TeleFoniX was started, and is still run, by Tony Baker, a 40-year sales & management veteran in commercial IT. He appreciated that the small or medium business was not well placed to secure competitively priced, quality telecoms services in the deregulated market; they did not have the buying power of the large corporates, nor could they, like residential users, take advantage of the special deals (usually based on weekend rates) being aggressively promoted by BT. With his experience of dealing with practically every type of business in the country, he realised that a totally reliable service was required, with an excellent support service and a tariff which was tailored to benefit peak-time users. From this concept, TeleFoniX was formed and has prospered.
